Hello everyone my name is Vinay V. Suvarna and today I will be talking about one of the greatest films of all time, a 1994 American drama film, 'The Shawshank Redemption'. The day I watched this film was the day when my interest in films multiplied a 100 fold. And moreover it casts Morgan Freeman, one of my favorite Hollywood actors. I could listen to his voice all day long, one of the best narrators in the world. Known to be one of the best films ever made, this one definitely got to be on my list.
The film is about a successful banker, Andy Dufresne, who is arrested for the murder of his wife and her lover, and is sentenced to life imprisonment at the Shawshank prison. Hope is all he got to live with.
The film was written and directed by Frank Darabont, based on the 1982 Stephen King novella 'Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption'.
The film stars Tim Robbins and Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman in the lead role.
The other notable actors are Bob Gunton, William Sadler, Clancy Brown, Gil Bellows and James Whitmore.
The cinematography was done by Academy Award winner Roger Deakins, while the film was edited by Richard Francis-Bruce.
The music was directed by Thomas Newman.
The film was released on 23rd September 1994 in the United states and received positive reviews.

Andy Dufresne once said, "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies". The trailer is catchy with great quotes and suspense building up. The story and screenplay is very beautifully written. The dialogues have turned out to become famous motivational quotes. The thought process of Men in prison who would probably never be released, is portrayed beautifully by the actors. Morgan Freeman's narration, needless to say, is one of the best. The background score perfectly compliments every emotion and scene. This movie has a legacy of its own. The locations used in this film have become a tourist attraction. Even some of the films made today would be in no comparison to this masterpiece. This film has helped me learn a lot in terms of film making. The praise for this film would be never ending. Since the name of this film was a little difficult to remember, many of them would might not have heard about this film. Among my friends and family, still there are so many of them who haven't even heard about this film yet. People who love watching meaningless drama films, this one is definitely not for you. It is a slow movie and you got to watch it with lot of patience and listen carefully to each and every dialogue. Even if you intend to forward and watch, I insist you, do not watch instead. But for those die hard film fans with infinite patience, this one is a gem. The film is available on several online streaming sites.
