Ondu Motteya Kathe | Story of an Egghead | 2017 Kannada Film | Raj B. Shetty | Suhan Prasad | Pawan Kumar | Best comedy film | Film Buff Review
Hello everyone my name is Vinay V. Suvarna and today I will be talking about the movie 'Ondu Motteya Kathe', a 2017 Kannada language romantic comedy film. We all have that one friend who is always worried about hair loss. And we might have definitely teased him once calling 'Mottey'(Egghead).😛
The movie is about Janardhan, an introvert professor who is told by an astrologer to get married within a year, failing which he would have to embrace Sanyasa(Asceticism). Is Janardhan able to successfully find a bride or does he give up, forms the entire plot of the film.
The film was written and directed by debutant Raj B. Shetty, who also appears in the lead role as Janardhan.
The other cast includes Prakash Tuminad, Deepak Rai Panaje, Vj Vineeth, Amrutha Naik, Shreya Anchan, Shailashree, Usha Bhandary and Mime Ramdas playing supporting roles.
The music was composed by Midhun Mukundan. The movie was released on 7th July 2017 and received highly positive reviews. It won the Filmfare Award for Best Film in Kannada in 2017, and was also remade later in Malayalam.
The song I liked the most in this movie was 'Chanda Avalu'. Lets listen to it here:
Lets go ahead and watch the trailer:
The trailer is a perfect cut of serious dialogues which will make us laugh out loud. Being a Mangalorean, I could connect to each and every dialogue as I myself have seen people talk this way. The thought process of a common man is shown very humorously. The director has put in all his effort to keep it as ground to earth as possible. The simplicity in his acting is really impressive. And the serious dialogue delivery will definitely make you laugh out loud. The supporting actors have also played their characters beautifully. The nightmare of losing hair before marriage can be felt throughout the film. The reaction of the society to different situations and people is portrayed in the most realistic way. The film is also one of the best tribute to legendary Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar(Annavaru), through movie posters, scenes and songs syncing in at the right humorous moment. 124 minutes of laughter and smile, possibly the best way I could describe this movie. Being done in a very small budget, this film is really a work or art. I admire the dedication of every member of this film for making this possible. Hats off to the Team!
This one is a must watch film for all Annavaru fans and all comedy film lovers. It is now available online on many platforms, you just gotta google it. It is also available on Netflix.
