I may forget a cricket century but not Century Gowda!

Hello everyone my name is Vinay V. Suvarna and today I will be talking about the film Thithi, a 2016 Kannada language Drama film. 

The movie is all about how three generations of men would react to the death of their 101 - year old patriarch. 

The film was Directed by Raam Reddy and the screenplay was written by him along with Ere Gowda.

 The Cinematography was done by Doron Tempert, Reddy's batchmate from Prague Film School.

The cast consists of Singrigowda, Thammegowda S., Channegowda, Abhishek H. N., Pooja S.M., all non professional actors from villages in the Mandya District of Karnataka.

The film was released on 10 August 2015 at Locarno Film Festival and on 6 May 2016 in India, and received largely positive reviews. It also won many awards at various film festivals.

Though the trailer looks like a simple cut of shots from the movie, the film is nothing less than a gem. As they say, never judge a book by its cover. The day I watched this movie, I realized that it is not just the cinematic style that matters, the content is way more important. Though the film doesn't show artistic, colorful or cinematic frames or shots, the content in this film will definitely connect to the audience. The simplicity of this film takes us into a village tour. Human mentality and emotions are very well portrayed in this film. In this dog eat dog world, emotions take a back seat, just money talks. With all new non professional actors from the village, the effort of the Director is clearly seen in this film. The dialogues are hilarious and simple at the same time. Though new comers, the actors have done a great job on their part. The music is simple and minimal. This one is a must watch film for all content lovers. I would definitely love to watch many more Kannada films like this.
