Maheshinte Prathikaaram | 2016 Malayalam Film | Fahadh Faasil | Dileesh Pothan | Syam Pushkaran | Simple and Realistic Film | Film Buff Review
The Revenge of a common man!
Hello everyone my name is Vinay V. Suvarna and today I would be talking about the movie 'Maheshinte Prathikaaram', translated as 'Mahesh's Revenge', a 2016 Indian Malayalam-language comedy-drama film. Usually in action or mass films, when the protagonist(Hero) is attacked by a group of people, he turns from a common man into a superman. He is able to fight against 10 people together that too twice his size, which is obviously impossible and meaningless. But in this film 'Maheshinte Prathikaaram' , the Protagonist(Hero) is a common man and remains a common man and takes a beating even if it is one person who is a little stronger than him. Now that's what I call a realistic film. Moreover the story is inspired from real life incidents of a person, Late Thampan Purushan from Thuravoor, Cherthala. I came across this film online and was instantly hooked after watching the trailer. And moreover it is a Fahadh Faasil movie so I gotta watch it anyway.
The movie is about Mahesh, a photographer, who gets beaten up by a stranger when he tries to solve an issue in his village. He sets out to take revenge on the stranger as he feels insulted after the incident.
The Movie stars Fahadh Faasil in the lead role playing the character of Mahesh.
The other prominent characters are played by Aparna Balamurali, Anusree, Soubin Shahir(one of my recent favorite actors), Alencier Ley Lopez and Sujith Shankar.
The film was Directed by Dileesh Pothan, an actor whom we have seen in many Malayalam films. Dileesh also worked as an Asst. Director in many films. 'Maheshinte Prathikaaram' was his Directorial Debut.
The story and screenplay was written by Syam Pushkaran, a screenwriter who works in Malayalam cinema. He has been a part of many other great films in Malayalam.
The music was composed by Bijibal Maniyil, a National Award-winning Indian composer and playback singer.
The cinematography was done by popular Malayalam film cinematographer Shyju Khalid.
The film was released on 5 February 2016 in Kerala and on 12 February 2016 in the rest of India. It was a commercial hit at the box office and was also praised by film critics. It also won many awards including Best Original Screenplay and Best Feature Film in Malayalam.
A beautiful song from the film: 'Idukki'
Lets go ahead and watch the trailer:
Juice Juice Juice.. Kummattikka Juice.. Mammoottikkaakkishtappetta kummattikka juice..😂
Even if he plays a small character in any film, he never fails to impress the audience. Soubin Shahir, what an amazing actor. The trailer is simple but bound to bring a smile on your face. I enjoyed watching this movie for its simplicity and realistic story and dialogues. We might have definitely seen such small but memorable incidents happening around us. The characters are portrayed as realistic as they would be in real life, without any exaggeration. All the actors have played out their roles beautifully. The story is written and directed so beautifully that it will definitely make you smile. The visuals will take you into a countryside tour of Kerala. The background score perfectly compliments the visuals giving us the right connect. To make a movie with such a simple concept about a common basic human emotion, is really a work of art by the makers. This one is a must watch for people who love watching simple realistic movies. Lets make this film a global hit. The film is now available to watch on Netflix.
