After watching the promo of this film, I just couldn't wait to watch this movie in theaters.
Hello everyone my name is Vinay V. Suvarna and today I would be talking about the movie Super Deluxe, a Tamil language Neo-Noir film. A Noir film is a sort of dark movie usually with a twisted dark wit. And Neo Noir is like an updated version of a Noir film in terms of theme, content, style and visual elements.
The film is about an unfaithful wife, an estranged father and an angry boy all of whom must face their demons on one fateful day.
The movie stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, one of my favorite actors.
This is a second movie by director Thiagarajan Kumararaja, the first being Aaranya Kaandam which was also a critically acclaimed film. Both the director and the lead actor have their own fan following for the type of movies they make.
There is another actor in this movie who is also my big time favorite, Fahadh Faasil. I never miss an opportunity to watch his films.
The other Star cast in this film are Samantha Akkineni, Ramya Krishnan and Gayathrie Shankar.
The additional screenplay was written by Mysskin, Nalal Kumarasamy and Neelan K. Sekar, all of whom are well known directors.
The cinematography was handled by P. S. Vinod and Nirav Shah.
The Music direction was done by one of the best, Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The film was released in theaters on 29th March 2019 and received quite positive critical reviews.. Anyways lets go ahead and watch the trailer.
The trailer is very gripping. The narration is some sort of irony, still not giving away the plot, by the end of it, keeps you guessing. The theme, style and visual elements are very well used. The color palette of the entire film with orange and blue shades add a particular kind of emotion to the entire film. I have watched this movie like thrice, obviously to understand different perspectives of film making. The Director, Thiagarajan Kumararaja has all the elements in place. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background music is amazing, minimal throughout and then rise at the perfect moment, keeps you glued. The cinematography handled by acclaimed Top Cinematographers, P. S. Vinod and Nirav Shah is simply beautiful. Vijay Sethupathi, needless to say is completely into the character. You give him a character, he gives you the best version of it, what an actor. The rest of the actors have also played their characters flawlessly. I particularly liked the performance of these teenage guys very much, well played. Many of my South Indian friends still haven't watched this movie yet, let alone my North Indian friends. This one is a must watch movie for art film lovers. I request you guys, do not read the plot online before you watch the movie. It spoils the entire thrill of watching a film like this. This movie is now available on Netflix and Youtube(Rent or Buy).
